Introducing Season Six - ABUNDANT HOPE

At Perspective Roasters we will continue to use our platform for inspiration, artistic expression, and empowerment of others through representation and perspective. This season we are proud to launch Season Six - ABUNDANT HOPE A Coffee produced with a focus on building racial equity...

“The contributions by an enslaved labor force was the start of Brazil’s coffee production and entrance into the global export market almost 300 years ago.  This labor force sustained the industry for 132 years to follow.”

Phyllis Johnson, this season’s importer, and Miriam Aguiar (grower, Q-grader, and exporter) have teamed up to identify farmers in the Santo Antonio Do Amparo municipality to participate in a program specifically focused on developing black coffee producers. A few families from this collaboration have now become well known as the first Black Brazilian Coffee Farmers to export in the specialty coffee market!

This season’s producer, Margarida Rosa Candido Vilela and her husband João Vilela, are one of those families that worked with Miriam to learn classification, testing - post-harvest, and cup scoring to identify the quality their land produces.
